General Industries to Break Ground on the new

Paladin Professional Center

(Mount Pleasant, PA) On Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11:30 a.m., formal groundbreaking ceremonies will be held at the new Paladin Professional Center located at 631 Excel Drive, Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania to celebrate the commencement of construction. Paladin Professional Center is located in Westmoreland Technology Park II, which totals 143 acres, and contains a total of 18 parcels. The Center is expected to employ between 100 and 150 people. First-floor tenant, the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), will occupy nearly 12,000 square feet of the new building.

General Industries, a leading builder and developer, is the general contractor for the 2-story, 43,000 square foot project, and was selected by Vale Vista Associates to Design-Build the new facility in 2007. Vale Vista Associates, a General Industries subsidiary, is one of Western Pennsylvania’s leading real estate developers, having developed more than 500,000 square feet of professional Class “A” offices, manufacturing, medical, fitness, warehouse and mixed-use properties.

Commissioner Tom Bayla says, “We are very excited that Vale Vista Associates is making this substantial investment in the Westmoreland Technology Park II even before construction is complete.  This shows their confidence in Westmoreland County and our successful industrial park system.”

Work is progressing quickly, with the delivery date to open the Paladin Professional Center slated for October of 2008. As the region’s leading builder of the Design-Build system, General Industries of Charleroi is positioned for explosive growth in the Western Pennsylvania commercial building marketplace.

Mon Valley Chamber of Commerce Awards Don Ivill with Outstanding Business Development Honor

CHARLEROI, PA (February 20, 2008) – Donald Ivill, President of General Industries received the Outstanding Business Development Award from the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce for the year of 2007. Mr. Ivill has been in the general contracting business since 1979, and became President of General Industries in 1993. He also established Vale Vista Associates, a real estate development company. The annual winner is chosen based on his or her business’ employment growth, expansion of products and services and commitment to the community. Mr. Ivill’s dedication to the growth, success and development of the Mon Valley region made him an ideal recipient for the award.

Deb Keefer of the Mon Valley Chamber of Commerce explains the impact and importance of Don’s contribution to the area. “ He was an obvious choice for several reasons. Most importantly, he is headquartered in Mon Valley, and General Industries’ work can be seen everywhere in the area. His buildings are very distinct.” Mr. Ivill has also demonstrated ownership of a growing business that keeps the Mon Valley region competitive with neighboring areas. Keefer believes Don and his team at General Industries exemplify the spirit and credibility of their community. “Don is precious to our community. People like him are rare, and we’re lucky to have such a generous neighbor, friend and businessman in our area.” A roomful of old classmates, friends and community members watched Ivill accept the award in December of 2007.

Mr. Ivill remains active in the community through the Chamber, and many other organizations. He is a member of the Board of Directors for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Westmoreland County, Inc., an organization that represents abused and neglected children in court. Mr. Ivill and General Industries also support charities such as the American Diabetes Association, and several local organizations.

Previous winners of the Outstanding Business Development Award are Valley Tire Company (2006) and Charleroi Federal Savings Bank (2005).
